Sagebrush Rooster's Star (aka Star) is a black roan jennet. She is 2 1/2 years old, and is out of Mammoth Jackstock parents. Star came to Sagebrush Ranch in December 2006, and was purchased from Travis Blackburn of Axtell, Utah.

Star is a sweet pocket donkey, and is almost always the first to come meet me when I go out to the donkey pasture.

Star loves her training lessons and is quite a fast learner. We have done a lot of trail obstacle ground work with Star while we were waiting for her to grow old enough to start additional training. She crosses the wooden bridge obstacle with ease. And the latest obstacle I've started teaching her is to walk across a tarp.

This fall I have started teaching her the basics of ground driving. She is picking it up very quickly, and should be well on her way to being a pro by the time she's old enough to start pulling a cart!

Star is very athletic, should make a great riding or driving donkey when she grows up! She is out of some well known jackstock lines, including Jen-Jack, Too Tall Jones, Texas Scooter, and Bully Boy. Her older half-sister was here for saddle training for a few months and has an excellent performance temperament, so if Star is anything like her, she will be a super performance donkey someday.
