Montana Mule Days is always a great show to relax and just have fun after the busy time at Bishop.
This year I showed Sagebrush Oklahoma
Andy, Sagebrush Desert Delight (aka Lily) and
Sagebrush Rooster's Star.
On Friday morning I showed Star in Mammoth Jennet Halter. It was her very first time in the show
ring, and only being a year old, she was a bit wiggly. But considering I hadn't practiced the halter
pattern with her at all before the show, she did really pretty well. She placed 4th in her class.
Friday afternoon I rode Andy in Donkey Western Pleasure for the first time. I wasn't sure how
well he'd do because at home he doesn't like to hold a canter that long - just long enough for short
gaming patterns. But Andy did everything I asked and held the canter until I asked him to switch down.
He placed 1st out of 8 donkeys!
I also rode Lily in the Donkey Flag Race where she placed 1st. In the evening I drove
both Lily and Andy in the Single Donkey Log Pulling and together in the Team Donkey Log Pulling.
Andy placed 4th in the Single Donkey Log Pulling (out of about 13 donkeys), and the team placed 3rd
(out of 4 teams).
It started raining during the weekend, and I decided to end on a good note and leave early Sunday afternoon.
